Dominican Republic unveiled security measures unprecedented in the Caribbean
From September 15, 2020, travelers are not required to undergo PCR tests before entering the country. Upon arrival to the Dominican Republic, mass testing is also not performed. At this stage, only non-invasive respiratory rapid tests are performed using random sampling.

Until December 31, 2020, all hotel guests receive a temporary free health insurance plan that covers, in addition to emergencies, COVID-19 tests, long-term stays and flight or return flight changes in case of infection.

In order to ensure the complete safety of arrivals, the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic has passed a new protocol certification process with Buró Veritas, the European company that specializes in quality control of tourist destinations and facilities.

In addition, since November 29, the government of the Dominican Republic has introduced a single electronic questionnaire for all tourists entering the country in order to switch to contactless technologies and simplify migration procedures.

Until December 31, 2020, the Migration Service will accept both formats of questionnaires: in material and digital media. From January 1, 2021, only digital format will remain in operation.

The questionnaire is filled out before the migration control stage. Once filled in, the passenger is sent a QR code that will be scanned by the authorities at the port of entry or airlines upon check-in. The questionnaire can be filled in at any time from the moment of purchasing an air ticket to passing through the migration service.

For convenience of travelers, page has been created with a detailed video guide to filling out the questionnaire and a list of frequently asked questions.

«The electronic questionnaire is an initiative that meets the current realities and aims to improve the efficiency of migration, customs and sanitary protocols. It is also an opportunity to improve the experience of passengers arriving and leaving the country»,  David Collago said, the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic.
