The European Parliament has finally approved the digital certificates COVID-19
Digital certificates will be launched from July 1, 2021 and will be valid for 12 months. The certificate will be issued free of charge by the national health authorities and will be available in a digital or hard copy format containing QR-code.

The document should indicate that the person:
  • was vaccinated against COVID-19;
  • recently received a negative test result;
  • has been recovered from the illness.

Practically, these will be three separate certificates, but the one general system will make certificates compatible and verified in the EU, as well as prevent them from being forged and other fraud with tests or vaccinations.

All EU countries must accept vaccination certificates issued in other member states for vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency. EU member states also have the right to decide whether to take into account vaccines listed by the World Health Organization (WHO) for emergency use.

Recall that the European Commission presented the COVID-19 digital passport project in March this year. Seven EU countries have started issuing vaccination passports, so far.

According to Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov, «vaccination certificates» can be launched in Ukraine as early as July 1. Earlier, the Ukrainian government reported that Ukraine has agreed with the European Commission on cooperation over the compatibility of the Ukrainian and European Digital Certificate on immunity from COVID-19.
