Mobile application Chornobyl App was launched in Ukraine, it allows you to visit the exclusion zone without leaving your home – virtually. On the eve of the 35th anniversary of Chornobyl tragedy in Ukraine, the first official application with a virtual guide based on AR technology was presented.
The application contains documents from the archives of the KGB, data on the level of pollution, audio guides, photos, 360-video and 3D models of the famous objects in Chornobyl.
There are about 150 materials in the app – it is like Wikipedia about Chornobyl in your pocket.
According to the developers, this application will expand the experience of tourists traveling to Chornobyl, as well as help those cannot get here personally. For example, due to age restrictions, schoolchildren cannot visit the exclusion zone until they are 18 years old.
The app has three sections: “Realize”, “Explore” and “Resolve”. In the first one – history and cultural heritage, the second – a virtual guide of the exclusion zone with detailed information about key sites. The third section – for those who travel for the first time, here you can find information about the preparation to the trip, the rules of conduct in the zone and so on.
The app is already available for download in the Apple Store and Play Market, in English and Ukrainian languages and it can work offline.
