The coronavirus pandemic has significantly changed the European aviation market and affected the position of major low-cost carriers Ryanair, easyJet, as well as the classic airline Lufthansa.
The statistics of flights were published on Twitter by the General Director General Eurocontrol Eamon Brennan.
Under the new conditions, Turkish Airlines became the largest airline in the skies of Europe with 596 flights. Second place went to Air France - 366 flights, third - a regional airline from Scandinavia Wideroe with 262 flights.
Europe's largest low-cost carrier Ryanair reduced the number of flights by 92% to 154 and slightly behind comes its competitor easyJet, which reduced the number of flights by 90% to 158.
Lufthansa reduced traffic by 86% to 209 flights and took the sixth place.
The seventh line by the number of flights took the aviation division of the DHL Express delivery service. It performed 206 flights and was the only one among the top 10 airlines to increase the number of flights by 12% compared to the pre-crisis level.
