The three leading countries with beaches that have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award are Spain, Greece and Turkey.
According to 34travel, 669 coastal areas of Spain were awarded the title of the best. Greece took "silver" with 515 beaches.
In the city competition record set the Turkish resort of Antalya. In 2019, the Blue Flag spread over 202 beaches of this city. Last year there were exactly 200 of them. Almost all the beaches in the Konyaalti region, in the Muratpaşa region, as well as Lara Beach, were included in the list of the best.
In all Turkey there are 463 prize-winners beaches. Of these, 109 are located in Mugla, 49 - in Izmir, 30 - in Aydin. 313 beaches operate at hotels, 150 - public.
Totaly in the world 3797 beaches and 695 berths were awarded the “Blue Flags” in 2019. The prize has been awarded since 1987.
